Assessment of Teachers by Learners and Requesting Reports

Since May of 2016, the Undergraduate Medical Education Program (UGME) has put into effect the Assessment of Teachers by Learners Policy. The purpose of the policy is to provide rules and procedures for teacher assessment by learners and feedback to faculty.

Students will assess teachers periodically and teachers will receive assessment reports twice a year if there is sufficient data (5 or more assessments). Once reports are compiled, teachers will be emailed a link to their individual report in one45. This data will be protected from unauthorized access, corruption, and any detrimental actions. Students’ comments will not be altered; this will ensure that more teachers receive feedback in a timely fashion.

At the beginning of each academic year students will be oriented to this process and taught to provide objective and appropriate feedback. While most students provide constructive and useful feedback, occasional students may not do so. If you receive any inappropriate comments please forward them to ta.support@ubc.ca.
